— The Allen Institute named two new executives: Helen Protheroe as government director of world partnerships and philanthropy, and Arden Yang as vice chairman of innovation.

Protheroe beforehand labored on the UK-based Royal Faculty of Artwork as director of growth and alumni relations.

Yang is a biotech vet who labored at Adaptive Biotechnologies, AstraZeneca, and Genentech earlier than becoming a member of the Allen Institute, a Seattle-based nonprofit based nearly 20 years in the past by Paul Allen, the late Microsoft co-founder. The group focuses on neuroscience, cell science, and immunology, and funds analysis internationally by means of its Frontiers Group.

— Aaron Passey, who helped launch Qumulo again in 2012, is returning to the Seattle-based knowledge administration firm.

Passey left the corporate in August 2016 and later spent 4 years as principal engineer at Dropbox.

He’ll lead Qumulo’s engineering groups alongside CTO Kiran Bhageshpur, who joined earlier this 12 months.

Qumulo helps firms handle unstructured knowledge. The corporate raised $125 million in a Sequence E spherical in 2020 at a $1.2 billion valuation. It laid off about 80 staff, or roughly 19% of its workers, in June.
