Seattle smart-tracking expertise firm Pebblebee is teaming with Montana-based Peak Ski Co. to assist the corporate combine Pebblebee tech into its skis.

The 2 corporations are unveiling Peak Lôc8 on Tuesday, a finding and monitoring machine embedded inside the ski underneath the topsheet materials. The machine is suitable with each iOS and Android platforms and is wirelessly rechargeable.

Utilizing a cellular machine related to the Peak Lôc8, the aim is to assist skiers monitor down invaluable gear that may go lacking for any variety of causes — whether or not it’s a nasty wreck on the mountain or unhealthy thief on the lodge.

“As an avid technologist and passionate skier myself, I understand how a lot folks worth their ski gear. I’ve at all times dreamt of getting our monitoring expertise constructed into efficiency skis,” Daniel Daoura, Pebblebee CTO and co-founder, mentioned in a press release.

Pebblebee was based in 2014 by Daoura and Nick Pearson-Franks, a fellow Boeing engineer. The corporate makes {hardware} gadgets and an app to find misplaced keys, pets and extra.

Peak is a small, direct-to-consumer ski model co-founded by CEO Andy Wirth, a veteran of the mountain resort and resort business, and Bode Miller, a former Olympic and World Cup alpine ski racer.

The brand new expertise might be embedded inside sure fashions of Peak’s 2023/24 line of skis.
