PlayStation pushes into esports with Repeat.gg acquisition

PlayStation pushes into esports with Repeat.gg acquisition

Sony has acquired the esports platform Repeat.gg, a website that hosts leaderboard tournaments and tracks participant efficiency.

In a press release to GamesIndustry.biz, Steven Roberts, Sony vice chairman of world aggressive gaming  stated: “At PlayStation, our imaginative and prescient for esports has at all times been about breaking down limitations for avid gamers to compete in any respect ranges.”

“Repeat.gg was designed to allow new match codecs which are simple to enter and scalable to thousands and thousands of gamers,” added Repeat.gg CEO Aaron Fletcher. “We’re thrilled to hitch the PlayStation workforce and work collectively to boost the number of match experiences avid gamers can get pleasure from, no matter their ability stage.”

Jeff Shull, digital advertising and marketing and progress supervisor at Repeat.gg, stated that becoming a member of PlayStation will give the platform entry to extra assets, sport titles, and know-how, thus permitting it to develop additional.
