The Reserve Financial institution of India has lifted a ban on American Specific onboarding new card prospects within the nation after assessing that the US agency is now complying with knowledge storage guidelines.
AmEx – together with Mastercard, Visa, American Specific, PayPal, Amazon and the US authorities – lobbied towards the rule when it was first launched.
The agency has now demonstrated “passable compliance” and the restrictions have been lifted with rapid impact.
Sanjay Khanna, interim CEO and COO, India, AmEx, says: “India is a key strategic marketplace for American Specific and at present’s determination is the results of our important native investments in expertise, infrastructure, and sources.”
The RBI lifted the same ban on Mastercard in June.
