HM Treasury has at the moment introduced the appointment of Ashley Alder as the brand new Chair of the Monetary Conduct Authority (FCA).

Chief Government Officer of the Securities and Futures Fee (SFC) in Hong Kong, a task he has held since 2011. Ashley additionally chairs the Board of the Worldwide Group of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) and sits on the Monetary Stability Board’s Plenary and its Steering Committee.

Ashley started his profession as a lawyer in London in 1984 and practised in Hong Kong for greater than 20 years. He was Government Director of the SFC’s Company Finance Division from 2001 to 2004, earlier than returning to personal observe at Herbert Smith LLP, a legislation agency, as Head of Asia.

Ashley is anticipated to take up his position as FCA Chair in January. He’s appointed for a five-year time period.

HM Treasury has additionally reappointed Dr Alice Maynard and Liam Coleman, who respectively chair the FCA’s Audit and Folks Committees, to the Board for his or her second three-year phrases.
