Apple May Soon Integrate Its In-house 5G Modems Into MacBooks

Apple is advancing its in-house modem expertise, with stories suggesting that future MacBooks could embody built-in 5G connectivity. The iPhone 16e marked a milestone as the primary Apple system to function a custom-built modem, and the corporate is now engaged on future variations to boost effectivity and efficiency.

In line with Mark Gurman (Bloomberg), Apple is presently testing the C2 modem and creating the C3 modem, anticipated to be built-in into the A19 Professional chip by 2027. By this time, Apple goals to surpass the efficiency of Qualcomm’s modems, which it has relied on till now.

This aligns with a MacRumors report stating that the C2 modem is being examined for the iPhone 18 Professional. Nevertheless, Gurman means that Apple plans to go additional by integrating modems into MacBook chips, permitting future laptops to help 5G connectivity.
